Tomato Time

The garden gnomes aren't doing their jobs very well these days... the weed are almost out of control -- well in some parts of the garden I only pretend to be in charge. The green beens are ending their production, the potatoes need to be dug, as do the onions and carrots, the okra is producing well, the squash bugs seem to be winning the battle over the yellow squash and zucchini, but the big stars right now are the tomatoes. We picked 226 tomatoes yesterday according to Sarah's count.

So the salsa making started tonight, but only with the ones that were too ripe to wait for the pressure cooker to show up for the canning to begin. We'll see how that goes -- another first try for us.

I guess it's time to get the kitchen cleaned up and then get some sleep. Another week starts tomorrow and we'll have to see what that brings.

Our weeds seem to have been winning much of the time this summer as well. We have not had as many tomatoes as you, but there are enough to keep us in good supply of fresh tomatoes at every meal.
